New Payment Options for Individual Members
As a reminder, Anthem Blue Cross is in the process of implementing new ways for members to pay their monthly premiums, including changes to credit card payments. Below is a brief timeline of the changes beginning 2011:
Beginning March 15, Anthem will no longer accept requests for members to pay by recurring credit card.If Anthem receives an application with a request for payment by recurring credit card after March 15th, they will use the credit card to pay the initial premium and send the member a letter indicating that they no longer accept that form of payment, and outline other options available.
Beginning March 16, Anthem Blue Cross will send a letter to members who pay by recurring credit card, letting them know that the payment option is no longer available.
Beginning April 1, all members who have not changed their recurring credit card payment option will be moved to monthly paper bills. Please note that there is a $2 fee per invoice for paper billing.
Beginning April 17, you will be able to pay online. Details about the service will be announced in the coming weeks. Also beginning April 17th, our Auto Pay phone system will no longer transact payments by credit card. To make a one-time credit card payment, customers will need to call Anthem's customer service unit; $15 convenience fee will apply for this service.
