Trusts: If you home is included in your Family Trust, then the Trust needs to be included in home insurance policy. Adding your Trust onto your insurance is important as it provides further protection for your assets. There's no charge to add a Family Trust. Contact your agent now.
3rd Party Designees: You can now have a copy of your home insurance sent to a 3rd party such as a family member or conservator that may take care of your finances. A 3rd Party Designee doesn't have any financial interest in your home like a mortgagee company does. Contact your agent if you need to have a copy of your policy mailed not only to you, but to someone else.
Scheduled Items: Please review your home insurance policy. During the year, you may have purchased items that should be specifically insured on your policy such as wedding and engagement rings, paintings, fine arts, guns, golf clubs, expensive bikes (road and mountain), collections, etc. It's a good idea to call your agent and discuss the coverage you may already have in effect or should put in place.
Update your Jewelry Appraisals: It's strongly recommended that if you have jewelry scheduled onto your home, condo or renter's policy, that you obtain a new jewelry appraisal every 2-3 years. Values change. Much of the time jewelry replacement value increases. Don't get caught underinsured at the time of a loss, stay current with your appraisals and provide them to your agent.
Many of our property policy with the Allied Premier Endorsement cap unscheduled jewelry at $5,000. Plus, it's subject to your policy deductible. If your jewelry value exceeds this limit, we can add the Premier Optional Endorsement and raise the unscheduled jewelry value to $10,000. If you have more that this amount, then please call us to get the proper level of insurance.
Remodel and room additions: If you've remodeled your home, added a room, pool, spa, built-in BBQ, gazebo or hard-scape, then contact your agent to make sure that you've got coverage.
Recommendation: We suggest that you take photos of your home and personal belongings at least once a year. If you ever have a claim, you're going to be glad that you did. Be sure to open up your closets, drawers and cabinets to show all the items inside. Hold onto the pictures in a safe place.
